Description of activity
Students plan, draft and write a narrative using visual stimulus as a starting point. They use one or more images from the visual stimulus sheet.

Prior learning
The students have jointly and independently constructed narratives with the teacher deconstructing and modelling stages. The students have read a variety of narratives, predicting how resolutions will be achieved and how readers are positioned in relation to characters and events.
Outcomes
Producing Texts (WS3.9)
Produces a wide range of well-structured and well-presented literary and factual texts for a wide variety of purposes and audiences using increasingly challenging topics, ideas, issues and written language features.
Grammar and Punctuation (WS3.10)
Uses knowledge of sentence structure, grammar and punctuation to edit own writing.
Spelling (WS3.11)
Spells most common words accurately and uses a range of strategies to spell unfamiliar words.
Criteria for assessing learning
Students will be assessed on their ability to:
- plan, draft and edit their own writing
- use written language features and conventions appropriate to a narrative text
- use a variety of verbs, adjectives and conjunctions
- use a multistrategy approach to spelling.
