Enhancing performance

There are no Work Samples available for this Activity.

Description of activity

Students learn a dance choreographed by their teacher which has a concept or intent and structure. Students individually choose one aspect of the element of space and explore, apply and/or manipulate the aspect to enhance their performance and interpretation of the dance. Students then perform the dance demonstrating their understanding of the chosen aspect of space. Students write a journal reflection on how they have applied/manipulated their chosen aspect of space to enhance their performance and interpretation of the dance.

This activity can be adapted to also include the elements of time and dynamics.

Context

Students have explored, applied and manipulated the elements of dance in a variety of dances and styles to communicate a concept or intent and are developing an awareness of self. They are developing an appropriate dance vocabulary to describe movements in space, time and dynamics.
