Description of activity:
Students write a report of 230 – 250 words about World Heritage listing and the Sydney Opera House. In their report they answer the following questions:
- What is a World Heritage site?
- Why is World Heritage listing important?
- Outline the reasons why natural (physical) and cultural (human) sites should be World Heritage listed. Give examples to support your view.
- Explain why the Sydney Opera House should be included as a World Heritage site.
Context:
Students have been studying the Focus Area 4G1 Investigating the World. They have learnt about the criteria and process for World Heritage listing and the international treaties and agreements relating to World Heritage sites. Students have identified and located natural and cultural World Heritage sites.
