Other Work Samples for:
Sam has demonstrated a basic understanding of shapes and symmetry. A design has been created using a small number of pattern blocks but a limited level of competence is evident in the drawing of a two-dimensional representation and in the flipping of the design. Sam has used some mathematical language to name the shapes used but has not described the process of flipping. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard at the end of Stage 1.
Grade D
The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.Foundation Statement strands
The following strands are covered in this activity:
- Working Mathematically
Students ask questions and use objects, diagrams and technology to explore mathematical problems. They link mathematical ideas and use everyday language, some mathematical language and diagrams to explain how answers were obtained. - Space and Geometry
Students identify, describe, sort and model particular 3D objects and 2D shapes. They represent and describe the position of objects.
