Description of activity

This activity relates to the textile item undertaken by students for textile projects across all focus areas. Students design and produce a textile item to develop a range of practical skills. The textile item should demonstrate creativity, be appropriate for its purpose and demonstrate proficiency in manufacture.

Context

Students have completed a number of textile projects to develop skills and confidence in the manipulation and use of a range of textile materials, equipment and techniques. The project work completed has been drawn from a range of focus areas.

Outcomes

5.5.1 critically selects and creatively manipulates a range of textile materials to produce quality textile items

5.5.2 selects appropriate techniques and uses equipment safely in the production of quality textile projects

5.5.3 demonstrates competence in the production of textile projects to completion

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • produce a quality textile item with consideration to creativity, degree of difficulty, proficiency in manufacture, time management and appropriateness for its purpose
  • select and use techniques to ensure a quality textile item
  • select and use appropriate textile equipment to construct a quality textile item
  • select and use appropriate textile materials.
