Work Samples - Grade D

The work samples for this grade, together, assist teachers to gain a common understanding of the standard of work typically produced by students whose performance, on balance, matches the description for Grade D.

At the end of Stage 5, School Certificate grades in Mathematics for Grade D are further differentiated as either D4 or D3. Read more about School Certificate Grading.

Activity: Can-do Trigonometry (View Activity…)

Students will be asked to demonstrate what they understand and can do in relation to their work in trigonometry.


Activity: Best Airfare Deals (View Activity…)

Students will use consumer arithmetic to compare airfares for best value.


Activity: Using Histograms and Polygons (View Activity…)

Students construct a cumulative frequency histogram and polygon (ogive) and use the ogive to find the median of the distribution.


Activity: Midpoint (View Activity…)

Students will use the midpoint of an interval to explain possible endpoints.


Grade D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
