Design brief
Students are required to design, produce and evaluate a quality solution for a carrying device using textile technology. A design folio will be developed with the product under the specified headings:
1. The project
- Write a description of the project identifying the need or opportunity.
- Establish and list the factors which affect the success of the carrying device.
2. Idea Development
- Brainstorm a list of carrying devices.
- Develop three detailed drawings of different design ideas, clearly labelling all drawings.
- Conduct a PMI (plus/minus/interesting) on each design idea. Students write down the positive (plus), negative (minus) and interesting aspects and implications of each design idea.
- Select one idea and justify selection.
- Produce a mind map exploring the process of making a bag.
- Collect a range of materials and label fabric characteristics.
- Develop a concept board with annotations.
- Produce hand drawings and a computer-generated drawing/image of design idea.
- Describe the factors affecting the design of your bag.
3. Research
