Jo has demonstrated a sound understanding of the features of a discussion and an adequate level of competence in oral presentation skills. Good eye contact and articulation are evident. Two viewpoints have been provided but there is a lack of supporting evidence and justification for these, and there is little use of persuasive language. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard at the end of Stage 3.

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.

Students listen attentively to gather specific information and ideas, recognising and exploring how spoken and written language differ, and how spoken language varies according to context. Students evaluate characteristic language features and organisational patterns of challenging spoken texts.
