My Favourite Activities Collage
Foundation Statement strands
The following strands are covered in this activity:
Description of activity
- Students identify and write down activities they enjoy in their free time, such as:
- sports (eg basketball, soccer, tennis)
- pastimes (eg reading, playing computer games, doing puzzles)
- hobbies and recreational activities (eg horse riding, swimming, bike riding)
- They circle or highlight the activities that demand physical exertion and contribute to an active lifestyle. Students participate in a selection of the physical activities identified to experience different levels of physical intensity (eg walking versus jogging).
- Students set up the page for their collage by dividing the page in half with a line. They create the collage, using words and illustrations of all the activities in their list. The activities on one side of the line are those that contribute to their active lifestyle and the other side contains the passive activities.
- At the bottom of the collage, students indicate whether or not they think they engage in sufficient physical activity for health and lifestyle balance.
