Other Work Samples for:
Ricky has demonstrated an elementary understanding of shapes and symmetry. A design has been created using a small number of pattern blocks but a very limited level of competence is evident in the drawing of a two-dimensional representation and in the flipping of the design. An attempt has been made to describe the flipping process but the diagram lacks accuracy. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade E standard at the end of Stage 1.
Grade E
The student has an elementary knowledge and understanding in few areas of the content and has achieved very limited competence in some of the processes and skills.Foundation Statement strands
The following strands are covered in this activity:
- Working Mathematically
Students ask questions and use objects, diagrams and technology to explore mathematical problems. They link mathematical ideas and use everyday language, some mathematical language and diagrams to explain how answers were obtained. - Space and Geometry
Students identify, describe, sort and model particular 3D objects and 2D shapes. They represent and describe the position of objects.
