Mackenzie has demonstrated a limited level of competence in sorting, ordering and counting money. Equivalent amounts for twenty cents have been demonstrated using coins of different denominations, but higher amounts have not been represented. An attempt has been made to use diagrams to represent problems but change from a dollar has not been calculated. To improve, Mackenzie could provide examples of equivalent amounts for fifty cents and a dollar, and consolidate understanding of the subtraction process. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard midway through Stage 1.

Grade D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
