Description of Activity
Students complete a listening task based on the song ‘Rock Around The Clock’ using the worksheet provided. They are played the music a number of times and are asked to describe particular musical concepts of the music.
Context
Students have engaged in a unit of work that involves performing, composing and listening activities based on ‘The Origins of Rock’ and ‘Rock Music’ with a focus of African music and the 12-bar blues. As a group, and individually, they have responded to a wide variety of listening repertoire and performed a number of pieces of African, blues and rock origin. Students have been encouraged to incorporate graphic and/or traditional notation into their listening responses to further highlight what they are hearing.
