Description of activity
Students choose an Asia-Pacific nation to investigate. They write an information report providing general information about that nation and investigate the cultural practices and traditions of its people. Students organise their information under subheadings and produce a hand-written draft, which is then redrafted and presented in a published format.

Prior learning
Students have been participating in a unit of work on Australian identity and values. They have discussed how cultural change has occurred in Australia and examined some of the cultures, ideas and traditions that have influenced Australian culture and identity. In English, students have deconstructed information reports. They have also produced their own information reports in earlier HSIE and Science and Technology units of work.

Criteria for assessing learning
Students will be assessed on their ability to:

- demonstrate an understanding of the cultural practices and traditions of a nation in the Asia-Pacific region
- use a variety of source material to produce an information report
- demonstrate publishing and presentation skills.
