Jody has demonstrated an adequate level of competence in using coordinates to represent and describe the position of objects on a map. A simple classroom map has been drawn and labelled using coordinates but a key has not been provided. The positions of objects have been accurately described using coordinates, and everyday language, such as ‘left’ and ‘right’, has been used to give directions. The description of how to move between points on the map lacks details and is a little confusing. To improve, Jody could use coordinates to clearly explain the route between objects on the map. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard midway through Stage 2.
