Mixed media painting - Bobby : Grade Commentary
Bobby has demonstrated a high level of competence in using a range of artistic techniques to represent figurative forms. There is a meaningful integration of the figure into the background and the scale of the face in relation to the built-up and recessed spaces is well understood. The composition has an experimental feel but the lower part of the composition is not as resolved and lacks consideration in terms of the development of form. Rich textural surfaces have been created using carefully selected material, especially ink, shellac and bitumen that integrates the photographic images and collage. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard.
Grade B
The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.
