Description of activity

Students participate in a range of modified activities (passing, shooting technique, and lay-up) to demonstrate skills and concepts for basketball.

Context

Students are learning to adapt and transfer movement skills and concepts common to invasion games. They are participating in a range of modified basketball activities to develop offensive and defensive skills which include dribbling, passing and shooting. Students also learn to interact effectively as they support and collaborate with others in group or team situations.

A student:

5.4 Adapts, transfers and improvises movement skills and concepts to improve performance
5.5 Composes, performs and appraises movement in a variety of challenging contexts
5.13 Adopts roles and responsibilities that enhance group cohesion and the achievement of personal and group objectives.

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • demonstrate movement skills and strategies in modified invasion games
  • display an understanding of tactics and strategies in modified invasion games
  • perform as a member of a team.
