Other Work Samples for:
Courtney has demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of surds. Numerical calculations only have been used and no generalisations have been made in addressing conditions. Proof by disproof is fine but ‘proof’ by example, as in questions 3 and 4, is faulty as one set of numbers does not prove that something is correct. Courtney has used specific examples to both prove and disprove the result. The inclusion of a ≠ 0 in question 5 is good but the answer to question 5 reflects rote learning rather than higher-order thinking. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B8 standard at the end of Stage 5.
