Frances has chosen and applied relevant numerical and algebraic techniques and strategies. A thorough understanding and deductive reasoning are evident. In the substitution method, making y the subject in both equations was a neat way of avoiding the problems of the negative. However, communication skills are somewhat lacking, with imperfect use of mathematical language. Both lines are successfully graphed and the scale is implied. It is a flawed check as it tested only one equation. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B8 standard at the end of Stage 5.
Grade B
The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.Areas for Assessment
