Working from pre-developed design sketches, students are to produce a three-dimensional presentation drawing of their individual toy design. Drawings are to be produced using a selected CAD software package (ProDesktop).

Context

The focus of this unit of work is in on the principles and concepts involved in product illustration. Preceding this activity they have undertaken preliminary work developing knowledge and skills in pictorial drawing with an emphasis on oblique projection. Through earlier experiences in this and previous units they have had opportunities to experiment with and develop elementary skills in the use of CAD application software (ProDesktop). Prior to undertaking this activity students have produced design sketches for a pull-along toy.

Outcomes

A student:

5.2.1 designs and produces a range of graphical presentations

5.3.1 identifies, interprets, selects and applies graphics conventions, standards and procedures in graphical communications

5.4.1 manipulates and produces images using computer-based drafting and presentation technologies.

Criteria for assessing learning

(These criteria would normally be communicated to students with the activity.)
