Description of activity
Students design and produce a PowerPoint for a ‘Space’ design which documents the process they have used to design a space. They include the following phases of the design process:
- analysis of the brief and identification of the need or opportunity
- client profile
- identification of the existing design
- concept development
- research on the work of a current designer from the focus area
- design specifications
Context
In this unit, ‘Design a Space’, students are required to design, produce and evaluate a 3D model which represents a space for living or recreational purposes in response to the needs of a designated client. Students have undertaken a range of learning experiences in the application of an appropriate design process.

Criteria for assessing learning
Students will be assessed on their ability to:
- apply a process of design in the development of the design project being undertaken
- research the work of a current designer and explain how their work impacts on the design development
- develop a PowerPoint presentation to communicate the design process followed.
