Casey has demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of statistical terms and a high level of competence in reading a stem-and-leaf plot. The calculations are accurate and the explanation of the processes used to obtain the mean and range shows a high level of competence. The explanation of how the median was obtained does not relate to the answer given and shows some confusion. Although there has been no direct comparison of mean, median and range, and conclusions have been drawn based on the mean only, Casey has identified that there are two outliers and has attempted to explain their effect. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 4.
