Story

I was sitting a home on my day off when I got the call. It was from the office and they want me to come in and cover a story about a little boy drowning while fishing with his dad. So I headed in to the office to get some things and out I went to the dam. Not much to report out there I took some photos.

I was just about to leave when the mum got there. She went straight to the dad and started hitting him and she repeated “you killed my son you killed my son.” I went to the mum and said “what do you mean? It was an accident.”

She said “no it wasn’t. He came and took my son and he said I will kill him if I don’t let him take him.

I thought there is a bigger story here then what there seems. When they there finished with the dad I went to talk to him. I asked him if it was true he said no I wouldn’t do anything to hurt my son. Well why she is saying you did. He told me that it was he’s day to take him out for the day because they ant together.

It was hard to know who to be leave I wouldn’t think you could kill your own son but people do. That afternoon I went home and looked through what I had. The next morning I went to the office and they told me that the dad of the boy was murdered last night and they think it was the mother. They wanted me to interview the mother.

I found where she was living and asked her a few questions. She said that she was at a friend’s house on the night of the murder. She also said that she did not blame the dad and wouldn’t do anything to hurt him.

I didn’t believe her so wrote the story how I think it went. I think the boy drowning was an accident and the mother killed the dad and won’t say anything. So I printed the story and put it all on the mum. A few days later they proved that the boy drowning was an accident but the mum didn’t kill the dad. It was a robbery and the person killed him.

I went in to the office the next morning and the boss called me into his office. I knew what’s going on he went off at me and threatened to fire me if I didn’t print the story again and do it properly. I also had to print an apology.
