Mackenzie has demonstrated elementary knowledge and understanding of the structure and features of an information report. Some information has been gathered but only three areas have been covered. Simple sentence structure has been used, and there are errors in spelling, punctuation and grammar. There is evidence of some competence in desktop publishing skills in the changes of font and underlining but teacher assistance has been required at all levels of the writing process. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade E standard midway through Stage 3.

They write well-structured sentences, effectively using a variety of grammatical features. Students spell most common words accurately, and use a variety of strategies to spell less common words. They use a fluent and legible style to write and employ computer technology to present written texts effectively in a variety of ways for different purposes and audiences. Students evaluate the effectiveness of their writing by focusing on grammatical features and the conventions of writing.
