Kerry has demonstrated a thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and features of a factual description. The paragraphing is appropriate. Complex sentences add descriptive detail are evident but some adjectives are used repeatedly and there are no metaphors or similes. Common words have been accurately spelt. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 3.

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

Students evaluate the effectiveness of their writing by focusing on grammatical features and the conventions of writing.
