Sam has demonstrated a sound knowledge and understanding of the content by planning a menu and applying knowledge of nutrition to justify choices. Sam analysed the food choices presented in the canteen concluding the menu was satisfactory, yet did not elaborate on decisions or make suggestions for improvements. Factors that influence healthy lifestyle were described in some of Sam’s decisions. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard at the end of Stage 2.

- Healthy Choices
Students describe the factors that influence healthy lifestyle decisions and demonstrate an understanding of the decision-making process. They examine how the use of drugs such as tobacco and alcohol can cause harm. They investigate nutritional choices relating to cultural beliefs, special dietary needs and 'fast food'. Students demonstrate behaviours to stay safe at home, on and near roads, when travelling to and from school, and near water. They demonstrate the capacity to deal with unsafe situations including abuse, bullying and harassment.
