Tracy has demonstrated a limited level of competence in creating, continuing and recording number patterns for two of the four operations. Most of the patterns involve simple addition but there is some use of numbers off the decade and of numbers greater than four digits. An attempt has been made to use multiplication but the explanation shows a lack of mathematical understanding. To improve, Tracy could include more complex and varied number patterns involving subtraction, multiplication and division, and demonstrate stronger mathematical understanding in the explanation of patterns. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade D standard midway through Stage 2.
