Other Work Samples for:
Jessie has chosen two appropriate types of graphs. The axes have been labelled but no titles have been used and there is no key for the picture graph. A commentary explaining the suitability of one graph over the other has been included. The graphs are hand-drawn, reflecting an understanding of the task as well as how it can be done. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 2.
Grade B
The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.Foundation Statement strands
The following strands are covered in this activity:
- Working Mathematically
Students ask questions and use appropriate mental or written strategies, and technology, to solve problems. They use appropriate terminology to describe and link mathematical ideas, check statements for accuracy and explain reasoning. - Measurement and Data
Students estimate, measure, compare and record length, area, volume, capacity and mass using some formal units. They read and record time in hours and minutes in digital and analogue notation and make comparisons between time units. Students gather and organise data to create and interpret tables and graphs.
