Lou has demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and features of a narrative. Appropriate vocabulary, including adverbs and adjectives, has been used. A variety of conjunctions and connectives have been used to link events, but the ending is a little abrupt. Direct speech has been appropriately used, and capitalisation and ellipsis have been used to good effect. There is evidence of a high level of competence in drafting and editing. A range of strategies have been used to spell familiar and unfamiliar words. To improve, Lou could use richer descriptive language and work on consistent use of tense and capital letters. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard midway through Stage 2.
