Robyn has demonstrated a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and the structure of an information report. The writing has been well planned and the ideas have been effectively organised using appropriate paragraphing and punctuation, although there is some repetition of information. A high level of competence is evident in the use of grammatical features, technical words and interesting compound and complex sentences. A variety of strategies has been used to spell most words accurately and the conclusion is very good; however Robyn would benefit from including additional detail in the report. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 2.

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

    Students write well-structured literary and factual texts in terms of topic, purpose, audience and language by drafting, revising and proofreading. They use accurate sentence structure, grammatical features and punctuation conventions to produce various texts and spell familiar and unfamiliar words using knowledge of letter-sound correspondence, common letter patterns and a range of other strategies. Students use joined letters when writing in NSW Foundation Style and develop basic desktop publishing skills. Students explain how they structure their writing to achieve intended purposes.
