Sascha has demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of the structure and features of a narrative. There is evidence of very effective planning, drafting and editing. The text has been well structured in paragraphs, and some complex sentences have been used but the resolution would benefit from further development. A variety of interesting time connectives and conjunctions have been used to sequence and link ideas. Imaginative, descriptive language, including adjectives, adverbs and similes, has been used to create visual images for the reader. A wide range of effective strategies has been used to spell words, and the punctuation is mostly correct. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard midway through Stage 2.

Students write well-structured literary and factual texts in terms of topic, purpose, audience and language by drafting, revising and proofreading. They use accurate sentence structure, grammatical features and punctuation conventions to produce various texts and spell familiar and unfamiliar words using knowledge of letter-sound correspondence, common letter patterns and a range of other strategies. Students use joined letters when writing in NSW Foundation Style and develop basic desktop publishing skills. Students explain how they structure their writing to achieve intended purposes.
