Jules has demonstrated a high level of competence in reading and responding in Japanese. The response to the original email is creative but the flow of ideas is disjointed and reads as dot points rather than prose. The beginning is unclear due to sequencing problems but a variety of sentences has been used. A good understanding of the use of script is evident but there is minimal use of kanji. There are some grammatical inaccuracies and minor errors in the use of particles but a thorough knowledge of Japanese culture has been demonstrated and the text has an authentic feel. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard.
