Jo has demonstrated an adequate level of competence in planning and performing a first-hand investigation. An attempt has been made to control variables and establish a valid difference between the experiment and control but the procedure is unrealistic and unclear as the roses seem to be placed in water as cut flowers rather than plants, thus reducing the possibility of growth. Logical steps have been undertaken but the method has not been communicated using a procedural text and the time frame is unrealistically short. There are some errors in the procedure, such as placing 250 mL of water in 100 mL beakers and some inappropriate, unused equipment has also been included. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard.
