Composing - Jerry : Grade Commentary
Jerry has demonstrated a sound understanding of the 12-bar blues. The blues scale has been used but there are some inconsistencies. The progression is clear but the coda ends abruptly and the rhythmic possibilities of the bass line have not been explored. There is an even and secure rhythmic basis for the repeated melodic riff. The rhythmic layers lack variety but an attempt has been made to use fills and tone colours. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard.

The student has a sound knowledge and understanding of the main areas of content and has achieved an adequate level of competence in the processes and skills.
