Kerry has demonstrated a sound understanding of the conventions of an opening to a short story. Although a context has been created and characterisation attempted, the ideas are somewhat clichéd. An adequate control of language has been demonstrated, but the vocabulary is simplistic and repetitive at times. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade C standard at the end of Stage 4.
