Description of activity
Students listen to an excerpt of baroque music and analyse it focusing on the musical concepts. A worksheet is attached for students to use. This will then lead to a 5 minute presentation where students describe how the musical concepts in the excerpt of music have been used and manipulated and the relationship between the musical concepts and the social, cultural and historical context of the listening material.
Context
Students have knowledge of and experience in describing the musical concepts including the use of, and changes in, duration, pitch, dynamics and expressive techniques, tone colour, texture and structure. They understand the relationship between musical concepts and social, cultural and historical contexts. This forms part of the Group 1 topic – Baroque Music.
