Guidelines for marking

The following guidelines for marking show one approach to assigning a value to a student’s work. Other approaches may be used that better suit the reporting process of the school. Categories, marks, grades, visual representations or individual comments/notations may all be useful.

High
  • identifies, gathers and interprets a comprehensive set of information about an appropriate organisation
  • organises and communicates their findings through a detailed, well-edited and informative poster or multimedia display
  • identifies and confidently discusses, as part of group, the impacts of this organisation on the global community.
Satisfactory

Feedback

Students will receive feedback on their ability to:

  • identify and gather information about a global organisation dedicated to either promoting ecological sustainability or reducing global inequalities
  • organise and interpret their research findings on the actions of the global organisation
  • discuss the impact of an organisation promoting either ecological sustainability or reducing global inequalities
  • communicate the results of their research.

Future directions

This Activity brings the Global Change unit (4G3) to a conclusion. In the next focus area, students investigate global geographical issues and the role of citizenship in their management. The topic Global Issues and the Role of Citizenship (4G4) provides opportunities to build upon the specific skills and understandings assessed in this Activity. Students’ understanding of the operation of global organisations is explored in relation to two global geographical issues. These studies are also well suited to independent research culminating in a multimedia presentation.
