Cameron has demonstrated a thorough knowledge and understanding of the structure and features of a narrative. The writing is well sequenced and descriptive but the complication and resolution are lacking. The text is well paced and good use of clauses and vocabulary has been demonstrated. A high level of competence in spelling and punctuation is evident. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard at the end of Stage 3.

Grade B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.

They write well-structured sentences, effectively using a variety of grammatical features. Students spell most common words accurately, and use a variety of strategies to spell less common words. They use a fluent and legible style to write and employ computer technology to present written texts effectively in a variety of ways for different purposes and audiences. Students evaluate the effectiveness of their writing by focusing on grammatical features and the conventions of writing.
