Work Samples - Grade D

The work samples for this grade, together, assist teachers to gain a common understanding of the standard of work typically produced by students whose performance, on balance, matches the description for Grade D.

At the end of Stage 5 for the School Certificate, student achievement is reported using the Course Performance Descriptors. Read more about School Certificate Grading.

Activity: Reading and Responding - Email Birthday Response (View Activity…)

Students will decide what to buy their friend for his/her birthday by reading and responding to an email suggesting possible gift ideas.


Activity: Letter to a Penfriend (View Activity…)

Students will write a letter to an imaginary penfriend in Japan about their summer holiday activities.


Activity: The Other Side of Sydney (View Activity…)

Students design a tour of Sydney for a specific group of Japanese tourists that does not include the usual tourist attractions.


Grade D

The student has a basic knowledge and understanding of the content and has achieved a limited level of competence in the processes and skills.
