Description of activity

Students develop a portfolio of original images that can be used in their design project. The portfolio should include at least one of each of the following items:

  • a still graphic of their own creation
  • an animation of their own creation
  • a collection of navigation buttons either of their own creation or collected from an appropriate internet source
  • a collection of graphical headings and subheadings
  • a scanned image from a photograph or original drawing for which the student has copyright
  • a video of no more than 30 seconds that shows some form of video editing

Context

Students have examined a range of digital products and assessed their effectiveness. They have learnt to select and use appropriate file formats for the digital media product they are developing as part of the unit of work to design and construct web pages.

Outcomes

A student:
5.1.1 selects and justifies the application of appropriate software programs to a range of tasks
5.1.2 selects, maintains and appropriately uses hardware for a range of tasks
5.2.1 describes and applies problem-solving processes when creating solutions
5.2.2 designs, produces and evaluates appropriate solutions to a arrange of challenging problems
5.5.2 communicates ideas, processes and solutions to a targeted audience

Criteria for assessing learning

Students will be assessed on their ability to:

  • select and use appropriate file formats
  • select, manipulate and produce samples for a range of data types.
