Guidelines for marking

The following guidelines for marking show one approach to assigning a value to a student's work. Other approaches may be used that better suit the reporting process of the school. Categories, marks, grades, visual representations or individual comments/notations may all be useful.

Range

A student in this range:

8-10

(High)

  • clearly and accurately identifies styles in Australian residential architecture over the past 200 years
  • provides an analysis of two of the identified styles, clearly identifying and explaining the key features of the style
  • accurately links architectural styles and features to local style
  • displays a high level of competency in the use of ICTs

4-7

(Satisfactory)

  • identifies the main styles in Australian residential architecture over the past 200 years
  • describes the key features of two of the identified styles and provides some explanation for these features
  • relates some aspects of an architectural style to local residential architecture
  • integrates some aspects of ICTs into the final report

1-3

(Progressing)

  • lists some styles in Australian residential architecture
  • briefly describes some of the key features of one or two of the identified styles
  • identifies some features of local architecture
  • displays limited skill in the use of ICTs.

Feedback

Students will be provided with written feedback which will inform them about the quality and appropriateness of their research and presented information, the quality and use of presentation techniques and their demonstration of ICT skills.

Future directions

The knowledge developed through this Activity will provide a foundation for future work in the development and production of drawings and presentations relating to Australian architecture.
