Morgan has demonstrated extensive knowledge and understanding of the requirements of a letter to the editor. Logical arguments have been presented and supported by evidence, showing a clear understanding of the key issues. The letters are well structured despite occasional inconsistencies in paragraphing. A sophisticated tone has been adopted and appropriate persuasive language has been used. There is effective use of rhetorical questions and humour. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard at the end of Stage 5.

Grade A

The student has an extensive knowledge and understanding of the content and can readily apply this knowledge. In addition, the student has achieved a very high level of competence in the processes and skills and can apply these skills to new situations.
