Practices to support Stage 5 grading

Here you will find information to help teachers, Principals and the whole school to establish practices and policies that underpin reliable and valid Stage 5 grading.

The information presented under Assessing: whole school covers designing and communicating a whole school assessment policy and keeping records.

The information presented under Assessing: each course covers developing assessment strategies, designing assessment activities and providing feedback to students.

The Course Performance Descriptors for each Stage 5 course are available through this link, and the FAQs link takes you to frequently asked questions (and answers) about assessment issues related to Stage 5 grading.

Accountability

Schools - under the leadership and guidance of the Principal - are accountable to the Board of Studies for the grades assigned to students in each course. Each year the Office of the Board of Studies monitors the awarding of Stage 5 grades. Principals may be asked to review the grades assigned in courses at their school.
