Other Work Samples for:

Kendall has demonstrated an extensive understanding of the 12-bar blues. The blues progression has been successfully used to explore melodic and rhythmic ideas, generating a stylistically appropriate and improvisational feel. The blues scale has been used in an ascending and descending pattern, reflecting an exploration of pitch. There is a clear structure to the piece despite some loss of direction in the melodic material. Each layer has its own independent rhythmic idea, and there is an interesting interplay between parts as the layering develops. Rhythmic interest has been sustained throughout with tone colours reflecting African influences. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade A standard.
