Worksheet

Part A

Find an atlas map and a topographic map of your local area. Photocopy these maps and mark on the maps your school or home, and the closest shopping complex. Include a title and a North point on the maps.

Part B

Sketch and label two (2) animals and two (2) plants that inhabit your local area. (1/2 page each)

Part C

Observe your closest shopping complex.

  • Describe briefly the shops and facilities that are there.
  • Research and describe changes that have occurred in the last ten years (new shops, shops that were previously there, refurbishments, etc). Your school library, town library or local council, as well as the internet, might have relevant information.

Part D

Record in a table format the rainfall, temperature and cloud cover for five days, morning and afternoon, of your local area. Rainfall and temperature can be found using the internet. You will probably need to make your own observations of cloud cover as this information might not be available on the internet.

Part E

Include a bibliography of the internet sites and other resources you have used.
