Flynn has demonstrated thorough knowledge and understanding of the selected poems. The response is coherent with well-structured paragraphs but the conclusion requires more development. Well-chosen textual reference and integration of supporting evidence reflect a personal engagement with the poems. A strong sense of audience has been demonstrated with a few lapses in appropriate tone. A thorough understanding of literary devices and how they create meaning is apparent despite a few errors. Sophisticated vocabulary and sentence structure have been used, and spelling and punctuation are well handled. This work sample demonstrates characteristics of work typically produced by a student performing at grade B standard midway through Stage 4.

Grade B

The student has a thorough knowledge and understanding of the content and a high level of competence in the processes and skills. In addition, the student is able to apply this knowledge and these skills to most situations.
