Description of activity

Students use geographical tools to identify, measure and record features of their local environment. They research changes to the local environment and present their findings in a written report including maps, tables, and labelled sketches. A worksheet is included for students to use.

Context

Students have been using geographical tools such as an atlas and a variety of maps to locate and identify features. They are able to distinguish between different map projections and use the points of a compass to determine direction. Students have been developing and refining their search techniques using the internet to collect data. They are able to construct line drawings and tables.
